The Constantia Valley sits on the eastern slopes of Table Mountain, roughly fifteen minutes from the city, and is the oldest wine-producing region in the Southern Hemisphere — the original Groot Constantia farm was granted to Simon van der Stel in 1685. The valley is small, green and shaded, and the estates are close together, which makes it perfectly suited to a relaxed half-day rather than a full Winelands drive.
