A wine estate guesthouse or manor house stay sits between a full hotel and a self-catering cottage: en-suite rooms in a historic house, often with breakfast, sometimes with a shared lounge and pool — without 50-room corridors. This listicle shortlists audit stays whose `stay_types` include guesthouse, manor or B&B-style inventory (hotels that also run manors are labelled).

How we checked this

Source: the union of our places-to-stay audits (`stay_audit.csv`, `stay_audit_outer.csv`, `stay_audit_outer_exp.csv`), verified 5 October 2026 against official estate pages where possible. We only list farms with `has_accommodation` yes or limited and at least one `source_urls` entry; we skip `duplicate_of` rows and exclude Bloemendal. Dragonridge is temporarily closed (not bookable) and is omitted from open inventories. Rates print only with a dated `rate_year` and stated `rate_basis`; undated tariffs are omitted or flagged. Star grades appear only from the audit `star_grading` column — estate marketing "5-star" claims are not treated as TGCSA confirmation. Laborie Wine Estate (Werf being rebuilt — Oct 2026) carries that rebuild note on every mention.

• When `breakfast_included=yes`, confirm whether it is cooked at the manor or a voucher/restaurant credit (Kloovenburg-style).

Is a guesthouse cheaper than a wine farm hotel?

Often, especially without a spa. Compare dated bases in budget stays and costs.

Do manors allow children?

Many do; Lyngrove is adults-leaning. Check family-friendly stays.

Can I book just one room in a manor?

Usually yes midweek; exclusive-use manors (Brookdale exclusive, Colmant) sell the whole house — different product.

Are star grades reliable here?
