Saturday peak rates dominate wine farm weddings — which is why Monday-to-Thursday (and sometimes Sunday) prices can look dramatically different on the same brochure. This guide collects midweek wedding specials near Cape Town where our audit records a published weekday or midweek rate with a year, so you can weigh the saving against guests taking leave.
How we checked this
Every venue comes from our Western Cape wine farm wedding audit (Franschhoek, Stellenbosch, Paarl, Constantia, Durbanville and Walker Bay), checked against official estate websites and package PDFs on 5 October 2026. A venue qualifies if winter_or_midweek_specials or price notes publish a weekday / Monday–Thursday / midweek rate (sometimes with Sunday called out separately), and it hosts weddings (yes) or wedding-style celebrations (limited) with a source link. We copy rates as published with the year. Winter-only offers without a weekday split live in our winter wedding specials list instead. Historic rates are labelled. Elgin and the outer regions aren't covered yet.
Why couples choose midweek
- Lower published hire or package bands on several estates.
- Easier supplier and accommodation availability.
- Quieter farms (fewer Saturday tastings next door).
- Trade-off: out-of-town guests may need an extra leave day, and some suppliers charge a midweek premium to travel.

Conservatory R17 000 (30–70 guests, low season Monday–Thursday). Minimum catering spend R600 per person. 2027 rates on enquiry.
Laborie Wine Estate, Paarl. 2027/2028 Champagne Cellar: low season (May to September) Monday–Thursday R38 000 vs Friday–Sunday R48 500; high season (October to April) Monday–Thursday R54 500 vs Friday–Sunday R72 500 (min 65 guests) (as published by the venue).
Joostenberg Wine Estate, Paarl. Kraal courtyard hire R10 000 Monday–Thursday vs R14 000 Friday–Sunday and public holidays (rates valid 1 November 2025 to 31 October 2026). Extra hour R2 500. Exclusive use needs 40 guests.
Pearl Mountain Wines (The Venue Paarl). All-inclusive Silver from R218 500 for 60 guests midweek in the May to August 2026 low season, against R228 500 weekend peak (VAT included) (as published by the venue). Midweek defined as Monday–Thursday; ask for 2027 figures.
Meerendal Wine Estate, Durbanville. Chapel hire excluding VAT (2026): summer midweek Monday–Thursday R7 000 vs weekend Friday–Sunday R8 000; winter May to August any day R6 000. Marquee reception hire not published.
Canto Boutique Wines, Durbanville. 2024/2025 functions pack: Monday–Thursday 09:00–17:00 from R6 000; Monday–Thursday evenings from R12 500; full Friday–Sunday day from R45 000. Breakage deposit R5 000; staff extra. Confirm whether rates still apply after the pack year.
Lourensford Wine Estate (The Laurent), Somerset West. 2026 venue hire R79 500 excluding VAT is listed for weekday and weekend alike; the website also promotes seasonal weekday/weekend package options in a R40 000–R79 000 range. A Complete Celebrations Package ran for winter 2026 — ask what returns for 2027.

Allée Bleue, Franschhoek. Undated historic proposal: Le Grand Hall weekday off-season R20 000 vs weekend season R45 000. Confirm current rates.
La Petite Ferme, Franschhoek. 2022–2024 brochure: winter midweek venue ZAR 20 000 vs winter weekend ZAR 30 000, plus menu fees. Live page asks you to contact for packages.
Bloemendal Wine Estate, Durbanville (Limited). Historic 2023 venue hire pack: winter Monday–Thursday R18 000 vs Saturday/Sunday R30 000; summer Monday–Thursday R30 000 vs Saturday/Sunday R50 000 (VAT inclusive). Marked limited / historic.

Unlike packages aren't ranked. Cavalli's hire excludes catering minimums; Pearl Mountain's Silver figure is all-inclusive for 60 guests.
How big is the midweek saving?
On the published figures above, the gap is real but uneven:
- Cavalli low-season midweek hire (R38 000 ex VAT) sits R17 000 below the low-season weekend figure and R44 000 below high-season weekends — before catering.
- Laborie low-season Monday–Thursday cellar hire (R38 000) is R10 500 below the low-season weekend rate and R34 500 below high-season weekends.
- Joostenberg saves R4 000 on courtyard hire Monday–Thursday versus weekend.
- Pearl Mountain Silver midweek low season is R10 000 below the weekend peak figure for the same 60-guest band.
- Meerendal chapel midweek summer is R1 000 below the summer weekend chapel rate (ex VAT).
Those gaps only help if catering minimums, overtime and guest travel don't swallow them. Ask every venue to quote the same guest count, menu and bar for a Saturday versus a Wednesday before you decide.
Tips for guests taking leave
- Publish the date early so flights and leave forms are sorted.
- Book a shuttle from Cape Town or the airport — midweek public transport to wine farms is thin. See wedding guest transport.
- Consider a Friday or Sunday hybrid if pure midweek is too hard for your crowd; ask each estate how it prices those days.
- Stack midweek with winter where both discounts apply (Laborie, Pearl Mountain, Meerendal).
- Compare full quotes with all-inclusive packages and affordable venues.
Frequently asked questions
Do wine farms really discount midweek weddings?
Several do, in writing: Cavalli, Laborie, Joostenberg, Pearl Mountain, Meerendal and Canto publish Monday–Thursday rates lower than Friday–Sunday on the same brochure year. Others keep one hire fee every day.
Is Sunday priced like Saturday?
It depends. Joostenberg groups Sunday with Friday/Saturday public-holiday pricing. Always ask; don't assume Sunday is "midweek".
Will suppliers cost more midweek?
Some Cape Town-based teams charge travel or weekday rates differently. Request supplier quotes for the exact weekday before you celebrate the venue saving.
Can we keep the guest list smaller midweek?
Yes — and smaller lists unlock more small wedding venues and intimate packages.
Should we book midweek or winter first?
If both are flexible, compare both calendars. Some estates discount season more than weekday; others do the opposite. Stacking midweek and winter (Laborie, Pearl Mountain, Meerendal) is where the published gaps are widest.
Do midweek weddings feel less festive?
Not if you plan the guest energy: welcome drinks the night before, a long lunch format, or a sunset ceremony that still ends with dancing. The farm is often quieter, which many couples prefer for speeches and vows.
