Wine Estate Wedding Venues in Franschhoek

Wine farm wedding venues in Franschhoek, verified: guest numbers, ceremony spaces, on-site stays and published prices with year. Last checked Oct 2026.

Last checked: 5 October 2026

Franschhoek does romance without trying: vineyards running up to steep mountains, old oaks, Cape Dutch gables and a village full of good food. This guide brings together the wine farm wedding venues Franschhoek couples can actually book, checked against each estate's own information, so you can shortlist by guest count, setting and where everyone will sleep.

How we checked this

Every venue below comes from our Franschhoek wedding venue audit, checked against official estate websites, brochures and event pages on 5 October 2026. We only list farms with published evidence that they host weddings or wedding-style celebrations. Farms marked Limited offer functions, small celebrations or receptions only, or have older or partial wedding evidence, so treat them as leads to confirm. Capacities are as audited. Prices are copied as published, with the year; historic rates are flagged and never shown as current.

Why marry in Franschhoek?

The setting. The valley is ringed by mountains, so almost every estate has a dramatic backdrop, often paired with heritage buildings, riverside lawns or oak-shaded gardens that need little extra décor.

It's a weekend, not just a day. Several estates have suites, cottages or a whole hotel on site, and the village gives out-of-town guests somewhere to eat and explore around the wedding.

It's close enough. Franschhoek is roughly an hour's drive from Cape Town and the airport in normal traffic, so guests can fly in on the Friday. Plan transport, though: nobody should drive country roads home after the reception.

Seasons matter. Summer brings long evenings and outdoor ceremonies, and it's when many venues charge peak rates and book out first. Winter is cooler and wetter, but several estates publish winter seasons or specials and have fireplaces, cellars or glass-enclosed rooms for a cosy plan B. See our guide to the best month to get married in Cape Town for timing.

Verified wedding venues Franschhoek wine farms offer

We've grouped the venues by seated guest numbers and noted anything you should confirm.

Large celebrations (200+ guests)

Allée Bleue Estate. Le Grand Hall seats up to 350, with a courtyard, riverside lawns, Palm Gardens and Bell Tower lawns, and the Manor House for something intimate. Ceremonies can be under open sky or indoors. The in-house culinary team caters, a coordinator is available and there are guest houses on the estate. The only published rates are historic, from an undated brochure, so request a current quote.

Franschhoek Cellar. Seven venues, from The Venue (the website cites 220 seated and 350 cocktail; the 2026 portfolio says 150, so confirm) to the intimate Blame Lilly and the Distillery Mountain View Lawns. Catering is exclusively in-house. The Rose and Protea cottages sleep four each. Venue hire is from R10 000 (2026, as published by the venue) for Blame Lilly; The Venue is R29 000.

Boschendal. Three wedding venues on a historic farm: the Olive Press (200), the Rhone Homestead (40 indoors, 80 outdoors) and The Retreat (72, or up to 250 on the lawn with a full bring-in). Catering comes from pre-approved outside caterers and a wedding planner is compulsory. Accommodation for up to 216 guests is booked separately (The Retreat package includes its cottages). Venue hire is from R100 000 (2026, as published by the venue) for the Rhone Homestead in low season (May to August), with a R950 per person menu minimum spend. There's also an elopements programme.

Paserene. The Lawns take up to 200 seated, and The Nest and Hidden Garden courtyard up to 50. Paserene's wedding package includes exclusive use from 07:00 to 00:00, planning and coordination, catering, bar and service staff, a welcome MCC and a menu tasting: from R210 000 ex VAT for 50 guests (2027, as published by the venue). There's no accommodation on site.

Mid-sized weddings (around 120 guests)

Vrede en Lust. The glass-enclosed Vineyard Terrace, with the historic cellar, seats 120 (150 with an outdoor dance floor), with gardens for the ceremony and pre-drinks. Lust Bistro caters, coordinators help on the day, and there's accommodation for about 40. For smaller weddings, The Residence is from R24 000 venue fee (2025, as published by the venue, valid September 2025 to August 2026) plus a three-night minimum stay. The main Terrace rate isn't published.

Holden Manz. A symbolic ceremony where the Franschhoek and Stony Brook rivers meet, then a reception at the Franschhoek Kitchen restaurant. A full event team is supplied and the estate is equipped for 120 guests. The five-suite Country House is on site. Pricing is on request.

Grande Provence. Garden, vineyard, Gallery and Jonkershuis spaces, with the Gallery as the indoor rain plan. The 120 capacity comes from an older 2019 information sheet, so confirm it. Head Chef Anvor Fortuin's team caters, the Owners Cottage suits a honeymoon night, and the estate mentions a winter stay promotion. Packages are on request; the estate says pricing is reviewed annually.

Intimate weddings (80 guests or fewer)

Maison Estate. Exclusive use for up to 80 guests, with the ceremony under ancient oaks, the reception at Chefs Warehouse Maison and suites on the estate. Packages are from R371 000 (2025, as published by the venue) for low season with a three-night minimum, excluding food and drink, décor, entertainment, marquees and photography. A coordinator is mandatory.

Mont Rochelle. This Virgin Limited Edition hotel has a Perfectly Intimate package for up to 10 guests, from R27 750 (2025, as published by the venue) plus accommodation, and exclusive-use celebrations for up to 80 (a marquee is needed above 60). Spaces include the Vineyard Lounge, Country Kitchen, Wine Cellar, Manor House and a private picnic spot by the dam.

Haute Cabrière. The glass-enclosed Terrace and Deck has valley views and seats 80 (100 standing); the vaulted underground Cellar Gallery is romantic in winter. The in-house kitchen caters. Minimum spends are from R30 000 (2025, as published by the venue) for the Terrace and Deck in June to August. The estate was fully booked for 2025 events, so ask about 2026 packages.

Eikehof. An intimate venue under old oaks between the vineyards. The main building takes a maximum of 75, with a lawn ceremony and courtyard canapés. Catering is an in-house buffet or an outside caterer. Music stays at background levels and functions end at midnight. The published 2022 rates are a historic guide only, so request a current quote.

La Petite Ferme. You reserve the whole restaurant and boutique hotel on the slopes of the Franschhoek Pass, with a lawn (weather permitting) or terrace ceremony. The live page mentions celebrations of up to 45; an older brochure gave 70 in summer, so confirm. Rates in the brochure are historic, so request a current quote. A wedding coordinator and in-house florist are available.

Le Manoir de Brendel. The only audited Franschhoek venue with its own chapel (about 40 inside, 60 outside), beside a lake, plus a Cellar Barn and garden gazebo for up to about 70. There are 10 suites and two cottages on site.

Topiary Wines. A tasting room with a fireplace for up to 60 guests, a lawn for summer, topiary gardens and self-catering cottages. Details were confirmed from archived copies because the official site was down in October 2026.

Old Road Wine Co. Part of the Franschhoek Cellar portfolio, for up to 50 guests. Venue hire is from R14 500 (2026, as published by the venue), excluding food, coordination, décor and bar staff. Catering is exclusive to Franschhoek Cellar.

Plaisir de Merle. On the Simondium side, near the Paarl border, with Simonsberg views. Weddings centre on The Tributary, with a ceremony garden and the option of a ceremony under the oaks. The audited guest figure is 28, linked to the two-night exclusive stay in the estate's seven Manor Homes, so confirm reception numbers. Venue hire is from R85 000 (2026, as published by the venue); accommodation and a minimum wine spend are extra. There's no in-house catering and a professional coordinator is compulsory. November 2026 to April 2027 is fully booked.

We describe each venue's pricing structure rather than ranking totals, because venue hire, a minimum spend and an all-in package aren't like-for-like.

Practical tips for a Franschhoek wine farm wedding

Check the catering model first. Some venues insist on their own kitchen (Franschhoek Cellar, Old Road Wine Co.), Boschendal requires approved outside caterers, and Plaisir de Merle leaves it to your coordinator. This shapes your budget more than the hire fee. Our wine farm wedding cost guide explains the pricing models.

Budget for a planner where it's required. Boschendal, Maison Estate and Plaisir de Merle make a planner or coordinator compulsory.

Ask about curfews. Finish times range from 23:00 for Haute Cabrière's dinner events to 02:00 at Plaisir de Merle and Boschendal's Olive Press and Rhone Homestead.

Sort guest transport early. Our winelands wedding guest transport guide covers the options.

Book early for summer. Plaisir de Merle is already full for November 2026 to April 2027.

Use a checklist. Our guide on how to choose a wine farm wedding venue has a site-visit checklist and shortlist template.

Frequently asked questions

What are the best wedding venues Franschhoek wine farms offer?

It depends on your guest list. For large weddings, look at Allée Bleue (up to 350 seated), Franschhoek Cellar, Boschendal and Paserene. Vrede en Lust, Holden Manz and Grande Provence seat about 120. For intimate days, consider Maison Estate, Mont Rochelle, Haute Cabrière, La Petite Ferme and Le Manoir de Brendel.

Which wedding venues Franschhoek has are best for small weddings or elopements?

Mont Rochelle's Perfectly Intimate package (up to 10 guests), Boschendal's elopements programme and Le Manoir de Brendel's chapel. Eikehof (up to 75) and Topiary Wines (up to 60) are small by design.

Which Franschhoek wedding venues have a chapel?

In our audit, only Le Manoir de Brendel has a chapel, seating about 40 inside or 60 outside. Mont Rochelle offers its Country Kitchen as a chapel-style space.

How much does a wine farm wedding in Franschhoek cost?

There's no single figure, because venues price in different ways: venue hire per space (Franschhoek Cellar, Old Road Wine Co., Boschendal, Plaisir de Merle), seasonal minimum spends (Haute Cabrière), a package that includes catering and coordination (Paserene) and exclusive-use estate packages (Maison Estate, Mont Rochelle). Each published rate and its year is in the list above. Compare full quotes for your guest number. See wine farm wedding cost.

Can guests stay at the venue?

At many of them, including Maison Estate, Mont Rochelle, La Petite Ferme, Plaisir de Merle, Boschendal, Vrede en Lust, Holden Manz and Le Manoir de Brendel.
